From our Principal at Blue Gum Montessori School
Blue Gum Montessori School is about to change your thinking about how children learn!
We invite you to come and visit our boutique, non-denominational Montessori school in Bibra Lake to see why it is the place for your family. Our main campus is located at 11 Hope Road in Bibra Lake, with an additional Early Learning site on Bibra Drive.
At Blue Gum Montessori School, we pride ourselves on our high-quality Montessori program and personalised learning. Every child is treated as an individual, and our teachers work closely with families to understand each child’s strengths, interests and needs.
- Each child is an individual learner in a carefully prepared Montessori environment.
- Our Montessori educators work within the values of our school, nurturing each child’s unique learning profile.
- Parents are invited to observe a Montessori classroom in action and see how the curriculum supports independence, confidence and a love of learning.
- As a Montessori learner, your child is respected for who they are and encouraged to progress at their own pace.
- Each child’s learning is closely monitored and evaluated so we can plan the best possible next steps.
- Every decision we make is focused on our students – your children.
Ross has been such a force for good in the school. He obviously brings some much needed leadership and positive direction. He is very visible and approachable for parents and students and sets the right tone in assemblies.

- At Blue Gum Montessori School in Bibra Lake, we foster education for life. Montessori children develop a toolkit for life-long learning. We value the literacies and the arts – English, Mathematics (including sensorial learning by feeling and working with materials), Digital Technologies, Practical Life, French, Chinese, Cultural Studies, Botany, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Positive Education.
- All children attend Positive Education classes, where they learn social skills and how to make and maintain friendships. They are supported to learn how to play, negotiate and resolve conflict through restorative practices, while nurturing their emotional development.
- Children are also taught to care for their mental health by practising mindfulness and meditation and by becoming aware of their place in time and space. All children need to feel safe, and creating a safe, calm environment is a core focus of our Montessori school.
- We value parent participation in their child’s learning and school life. Parental involvement is encouraged, especially when a child is facing challenges, so that we can work in partnership with families.
- Every decision we make is focused around our students – your children.

- The Montessori curriculum at Blue Gum Montessori School is grounded in the pioneering scientific research of Dr Maria Montessori.
- Our whole-school Montessori curriculum is approved by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
- Learning in our Montessori school is sequential and forms part of a holistic way of learning that supports each stage of child development.
- We design learning experiences based on how the brain works and how strong neurological pathways are formed.
- Children are encouraged to be independent and to research their learning under the guidance of a Montessori teacher who nurtures and supports their next steps.
- Each child’s personal learning journey is our priority, and a passion for learning is actively encouraged and celebrated.
- BGMS provides a rich blend of children constructing their own learning within the Montessori framework and engaging in specific Montessori lessons, commonly known as class jobs.
- The natural flow between indoor and outdoor learning is highly valued, making full use of our Bibra Lake environment.
- The Montessori curriculum is recognised by Harvard University as providing children with strong opportunities to develop executive functioning skills.

Parental involvement is strongly encouraged at Blue Gum Montessori School. When your child is faced with challenges, we work in partnership with you to understand their needs and to achieve the best possible outcomes for their learning and wellbeing.
Through ongoing engagement with a Montessori prepared environment and a Montessori prepared adult, you and your family will experience what genuine, deep learning looks like in a Montessori school. Children are guided to explore, make choices and take responsibility for their own learning.
Blue Gum Montessori School lays the foundation for life-long learning. Engaged learners are at the heart of everything we do, and the BGMS team feel privileged to share in your child’s growth and development. We invite you to discover the benefits of a BGMS education and become part of the Blue Gum Montessori School community.

The child seeks for independence by means of work; an independence of body and mind.
