Uniforms
Our uniform consists of a blue polo shirt with the School logo printed on them. It is recommended that the bottom half of clothing should be navy blue. Our navy blue brimmed and legionnaire’s hats are also available
As a Montessori School, Blue Gum likes to give children a choice in wearing the school uniform with pride and respect.
It is expected that the uniform be worn on special occasions – excursion or incursion days, and representation at official school events. It is also preferred that the children wear a school polo shirt for photography. The reasons for this are:
- On an excursion, from a safety and duty of care stance, the children are easily identified by their uniform.
- On special occasions and excursions, the children wearing the uniform represent the school to the public.
- To genuinely think about why we wear a uniform and its importance and relevance to being part of a school community.
When the children reach around six years old they are going into an intense social period when they want to belong to a group. This is when they will in all probability ask to wear the uniform regularly.
Uniform shop sales can be made via administration throughout the school terms. Uniforms are generally kept in stock and placing orders is not necessary.
Children should wear closed in shoes for their full protection. Flip flops (thongs) are not recommended due to safety with the school environment.
It is advised that when children are not wearing the uniform, comfortable play clothes that are easy to take on and off are most suitable. “Sunday best” clothes are not advisable as some school activities can be messy.
