Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, who are united by a set of core Australian values. It is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism and the children spent time in class activities discussing the countries and cultures of their families. At BGMS everyone belongs and, for our whole school activity, children drew themselves on a jigsaw piece which was used to make a whole school jigsaw. This beautiful collective artwork showed how we are all individual and together we make a big, special learning community. Given COVID-19 pressure, celebrations this year were low key and restricted to staff and students.
At Blue Gum Montessori School, we make every effort to educate our community to educate themselves and the wider international school community on how to best help children learn and value diversity. Yes, we all have a choice with how we respond to one another within and outside our community. With human tendencies at the very core of our Montessori curriculum, with a focus on humanity.
BGMS is committed to learning more about its world, listening to one another, and enacting these commitments.
As a collective, let us develop our capacity to raise a generation of learners who are tolerant and naturally accepting of others.
Let us remind one another of our values that underscore our learning at Blue Gum Montessori School.
At BGMS we value:
To provide an excellent Montessori Education that enables the development of every child to reach their full potential.
Blue Gum Montessori School acknowledges the Noongar people of Beeliar boodja, the land on which we work, learn and play. We acknowledge their continuing connection to land, waters and culture and pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and emerging.
