Term 3 was full of some fantastic incursions, including two author visits!

Upper Primary students had the chance to meet children’s author and scientist Cristy Burne.

Cristy told us all about how she combines two of her favourite things; writing and science. We discovered how her real-life experiences inspire her stories (the magical powers in her Wednesday Weeks books were sadly not included in this). The students of Banksia, Coolibah and Kurrajong learned about weird and wonderful animals, and Fiona Wood, legendary surgeon and West Aussie, as well as having some laughs along the way.

Our Junior and Middle Primary students had the chance to meet author and illustrator James Foley.

James taught us how to draw some of his characters and read his latest book, Stellarphant. He even showed us the first book he *ever* illustrated – all the way back when he was in Pre-Primary!

Both James and Cristy were kind enough to sign some copies of their books for our library and classrooms.

Thank you James and Cristy for the laughs, the drawing lessons, and the encouraging words to all of our budding authors and illustrators
